Introduction

This site contains the work of author J. C. Gabriel a.k.a. Echan Deravy. On its blog you can read excerpts from the upcoming book Japanthropologist as well as some articles on Japan. The book was translated for Japanese publication in 2011.

John Craig (Gabriel) is one of a new breed, a Japanthropologist. Imagine being embedded in a very different culture for over three and a half decades. Who might you meet over that long time and what information might you discover? More importantly perhaps, what might that discovery have to do with the current world situation and the plethora of 2012 prophecies now assaulting our media?

The Japanthropologist is entirely based on extensive experience. It is faction, sharing with the reader an insider story that is literally mind boggling.

J. C.’s Japanese avatar was Echan Deravy for many years. As Echan, he wrote and translated 25 books. As Echan he was asked by members of a certain faction of the Japanese ex-yakuza to make a film about 2012.

This is his first novel in English. It is literally ‘from inside’ the rising sun. Think of him as an embedded cultural spy-a Japanthropologist in fact.
